The power plant's operator VKJ has signed a three-year contract, worth 4.2 million euros (excluding VAT), on the supply of fly ash with Vakaru Krova, the group said.
Vakaru Krova will subsequently supply ash to Norway's Noah which will use it to rebuild the landscape of the island of Langoya.
Fly ash will be mixed with an acid received from industrial waste and water using complex equipment to produce a material similar to plaster. And it will be used to fill the craters on the island that were created during the excavation of limestone, thus rebuilding the island's landscape.
Around 11,000 tons of flue-gas waste and fly ash are estimated to be produced at the power plant a year and Lithuania has nowhere to use it.
