The situation is under control, but the number of new cases is growing as the virus is spreading from weekend parties and family gatherings to workplaces, Rolanda Lingiene, the director of the National Public Health Center's Vilnius Department, said on Tuesday.
"We have clear, real-life examples of people engaging in a variety of activities, such as dancing, singing and others, after work, and scores of people gathering and meeting someone they don’t normally interact with every day," Lingiene said in a press release.
"All this ends up in tens of new cases of infection being registered and the virus spreading to workplaces," the epidemiologist said.
"Therefore, we do recommend that employers allow employees to work remotely if possible," she added.
Employers should also apply a flexible "stay-at-home-if-you-are-sick" policy, Lingiene said.
