„As the European Union and the Seimas have adopted laws on crypto asset markets, companies providing these services become fully-fledged members of the financial market. They have to meet high transparency, governance and accountability standards, which can be guaranteed only with appropriate preparation,“ Majauskas says.
Former head and co-founder of the association, Vytautas Kašėta, welcomes Majauskas’ appointment and says that changes are needed for further growth of the organisation. According to him, the new president’s vast experience in the finance industry and consistent efforts to improve the transparency of Lithuania’s financial market will help ensure appropriate self-regulation of the financial technology market and growth of the community of crypto economy.
Majauskas resigned from parliament in March 2023. He was elected to the Seimas in 2020 with the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) and was chair of the Committee on Budget and Finance.
