The REHAU group has an annual turnover of around $3.5 billion and is comprised of a range of different divisions. The new production unit in Klaipeda will be part of REHAU’s Building Solutions division, which manufactures a range of polymer products including piping, fittings and polymer solutions for telecommunications. The output from REHAU’s Klaipeda unit will mainly be going to wholesalers, telecommunications companies, and municipalities in countries across Europe. REHAU will be looking for a wide range of specialists for its Klaipeda operations, including managers, engineers and technicians, mechanics and electricians, administrative staff, machine operatives and warehouse staff.
Dr. Roger Schönborn, Head of Division Building Solutions, underlines: „REHAU was considering a number of locations for its new facility across the CEE region before settling on Klaipeda. The strong pool of qualified talent and their professional attitude and work ethic was a major factor in REHAU’s decision, as was the strong cost to quality ratio. In key fields, Lithuania remains highly cost competitive for manufacturers, yet it also boasts some of the most streamlined and business-friendly conditions in the EU.“
As Mantas Katinas, Director General of Invest Lithuania, explains, German manufacturers are finding Lithuania’s value proposition attractive. “In recent years, some of the largest manufacturers from Germany have established operations here, including Continental, Hella and now REHAU. The fact that Lithuania is trusted by such prestigious companies is a testament to the high level of our talent, infrastructure and business environment.”
“Klaipeda FEZ always seeks flexibility and growth opportunities for both existing and prospective clients. We believe that REHAU’s case should be of major interest to local and international commercial real estate developers and investors as it offers a major international industrial brand as a customer, as well as a strong business ecosystem and team here at Klaipeda FEZ to develop this project together. We are truly happy to be able to offer this exciting opportunity for the market: it is a success story that the strongest local and international players can co-create together. At the same time, I believe this project will further strengthen the image of Klaipeda FEZ as a full-scope service provider for new and existing investors”, says Eimantas Kiudulas, CEO of Klaipeda FEZ.
The arrival of REHAU is another success story for Klaipeda FEZ. In December 2019, the innovative constructions materials producer GRH International established production and R&D in Klaipeda FEZ. The zone’s FlexStart programme is designed to help manufacturers establish operations in just 3 months. The well-developed infrastructure available at Klaipeda FEZ was an important factor in REHAU’s decision to set up operations in Lithuania.
