The list of technological excellence of CERN includes particle accelerators, vacuum technology, data and digital sciences, sensors, detectors, superconducting magnets, mechanical, material, electrical engineering and a host of other innovative technologies that can be applied not only for scientific but also for commercial purposes, "Startup Lithuania" informs.

The assistance for companies provided by the Incubator includes financial support of up to 40.000 euros, preferential rate licensing of CERN intellectual property, CERN and LIC experts’ consultations, premises in one of two technology parks (Vilnius or Kaunas), etc. Start-ups, spin-offs and all young companies (up to 2 years since establishment) with business ideas on how to use CERN technologies or competencies are invited to participate. Participants may be given the opportunity to visit CERN headquarters to learn more about available technologies and their transfer capabilities.

The selection process will take place annually in two stages. In the first phase, participants will be asked to write a preliminary business or product proposal highlighting the need for technological or know-how support from CERN. CERN and LIC experts will select up to 5 best proposals to enter the second phase, where selected participants will be asked to write a comprehensive business plan. At the end of phase two, a Selection Panel, composed of representatives from CERN, LIC, technology parks, and independent experts will select up to 3 proposals who will be awarded financial and other support offered by the Incubator.

Those wishing to take part in the competition and fulfill the potential of the technologies developed by CERN are invited to complete an application by 31st of January 2020.

The world’s largest nuclear and particle physics laboratory CERN, located in Switzerland, granted Lithuania the status of Associate Member State in 2018. Associate membership opens opportunities for Lithuania to work closely with CERN in the fields of science, industry, and technology. CERN technologies and competencies can be applied in the fields of medicine, biomedicine, aerospace, safety, Industry 4.0, cultural heritage and more. The experience of foreign companies confirms – cooperation with CERN undoubtedly enhances the competencies of the companies, increases the advantage and visibility gained by using the CERN name for their advertising.
