The plans follow Halal Control Lithuania's accreditation in late August to issue the necessary Halal certificates for exports to Muslim countries, the company said.

Since the Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service harmonized the necessary certificates with the United Arab Emirates last year, the Lithuanian company plans, first of all, to look for clients in this country.

"We plan to look for new clients in this country. We hope to have permits harmonized for other Persian Gulf countries as well," Darius Gudaciauskas, the chief executive of KG Group's poultry business, said in a statement.

In his words, the company hopes Lithuania will gain the right to export poultry to China, South Korea, the Republic of South Africa and Canada.
