According to the prime minister, the government has owed Zalgiris that amount of money since the club won its first, and so far only, Euroleague title back in 1999.

"As far as I know, the government has an outstanding commitment dating back to 1999. Žalgiris was rewarded with a bonus of almost 2 million euros for their Euroleague victory, but the money wasn't paid as the economic crisis struck," Skvernelis told reporters.

"We'll look at whether and why this commitment wasn't fulfilled, and if it's still outstanding, we'll look for ways to pay back that debt," he added.
