537 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths

Lithuania has registered 537 new coronavirus infections and four deaths from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Friday morning.

The fatalities were aged between 40 and 79 years.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate has risen to 261.6 cases per 100,000 people, but the daily share of positive tests has edged down to 4.1 percent, according to the latest statistics.

Some 7,036 molecular (PCR) tests for COVID-19 and 8,143 antigen tests have been performed over the past 24 hours.

Overall, 292,552 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases currently stands at 6,356.

A total of 4,471 people have died from COVID-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 9,128.
