Border guards stop four irregular migrants from crossing into Lithuania

Four foreign nationals were turned away after trying to access Lithuania unlawfully from Belarus over the past day, the State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reports.

Latvia observed zero attempts to cross into the country on Tuesday. The Polish border service said it was calm at its border a day earlier.

According to the VSAT, eight irregular migrants tried to enter Lithuania from Belarus at unauthorised locations this year. In 2023, the number was 2,643.

Since the start of the migrant crisis caused by Belarus in 2021, Lithuania has thwarted more than 21,900 illegal border crossing attempts.
