Nonetheless, Remigijus Rudminas, the head of Telsiai County Police Headquarters, warned that the information had not yet been confirmed and an expert had been sent to find out whether the remains belonged to a human.

“We cannot yet tell whether these are the remains of a human or an animal. Since we have not found the [suspect’s] dog. An expert is going to the site to find that out. There have been reports that he [the suspect] might have escaped,” he told BNS.

Approximately 150 police officers were involved in the manhunt for the suspect on Friday afternoon, Rudminas added.

Meanwhile, the Police Department reported that a gun had also been found near the charred remains of possibly a human body.
