Civil registry offices to restore regular marriage registration procedure

With the Lithuanian government easing lockdown restrictions, the Justice Ministry has proposed to the country’s civil registry offices to gradually restore the usual procedure of marriage registration.

“We are beginning to return to regular life, relying on the responsibility and awareness of our people, which have helped contain the spread of the virus. However, these steps shall be very cautious in order to avoid the emergence of new outbreaks,” Justice Minister Elvinas Jankevicius said in a press release on Thursday.

According to the ministry, attendance at ceremonies may exceed five persons provided that they comply with the social distancing requirements and other necessary anti-coronavirus measures.
