Deputy Foreign Minister: Belarusian activist Bialiatski is today’s Mandela

Belarusian human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski is today’s Nelson Mandela, Deputy Foreign Minister Mantas Adomėnas said on Wednesday, in an event to unveil the mural dedicated to the laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize.

“It is both symbolic and significant that today, a street away from the Belarusian embassy, representation of the Minsk regime in Lithuania, we are unveiling the mural to honour the fight for freedom of Ales Bialiatski who has devoted his life to the democracy of Belarus, to the freedom of Belarus and pro-European choice of Belarus,” Adomėnas said during the event held in front of the Belarusian embassy in Vilnius.
