Director of State Security Department: Russia’s ability to influence Lithuania’s political system is limited

Director of the State Security Department (VSD) Darius Jauniškis says Lithuania’s security services did not detect any attempts of foreign interference in municipal and mayoral elections on 5 March.

He said Thursday that Russia’s ability to influence Lithuania’s political system has significantly diminished.
“I am pleased that we have not experienced any risks or foreign interference,” Jauniškis told reporters at the Presidential Palace on 9 March, where the 2023 National Threat Assessment was presented.
