"I just called to the National Public Health Center, they confirmed it and said they are looking into the Seskine case," Seselgis told a pres conference.
Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga said a female doctor contracted the virus and she spent several days working after her return from Cuba.
Based on different reports, the doctor worked from four days to a week.
"After returning on the 8th from Cuba, she spent four days working," Veryga said.
The medical establishment posted a statement on this case on its Facebook account on Wednesday.
"A staff member of Seskine Polyclinic has been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus. The person is undergoing treatment and is isolated. Everyone who has had contact with this person has placed themselves in isolation," the policlinic posted on Facebook.
"At this stage, we known it’s a brought-in case. We are making decisions urgent actions at this medical establishment," Karolis Zukuskas, an adviser to the Vilnius mayor, told BNS.
There's an ongoing epidemiological investigation regarding other possible contacts, and their list is not very long. The policlinic plans to contact all people the person has had contact with.
"Staff of the polyclinic continue to provide medical assistance as usual and are taking care of patients. Please, stay calm," the statement reads.
Vilnius Vice Mayor Edita Tamosiunaite told the 15min.lt news website that the doctor in question returned from Cuba in early March and felt fine, had no symptoms and worked for a week. During that time, she received around 80 patients, and the polyclinic is getting in touch with all of them.
"She was in close contact with five staff members of the polyclinic. They do not work and have self-isolated. The premises, the office have been disinfected," she said.
Lina Businskaite, spokeswoman for the health minister, confirmed it to BNS that all coronavirus cases in Lithuania involve people who arrived from abroad.
"The Health Ministry issues official information and official data as soon as it receives it from the laboratory. We don’t have information so far on any local case. All cases so far have been brought in," she said, adding that the ministry is urging "not to mislead the public".
Based on the latest information, there have been 26 confirmed coronavirus cases in Lithuania. On patient is a grave state, and one woman has already recovered from the virus.
