Eleven artillery shells discovered in a field in western Lithuania

Eleven artillery shells were discovered in Šilutė district on Tuesday, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (PAGD).

The police informed the fire department at 10:11 p.m. that using a metal detector 11 artillery shells had been found in a field near a forest in Čiuteliai village.

Firefighters were at the scene until deminers from the Juozas Vitkus Engineer Battalion arrived. It was decided that ground would be dug and explosives destroyed in the morning when it is light as there might be more shells.
