Ex-president Adamkus remains in hospital for observation

Former president of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus remains in Santaros Clinics in Vilnius where his condition continues to be monitored.

"President Valdas Adamkus today remains in Santaros Clinics for observation. His condition is stable," reads a statement issued by the hospital on Monday.

News website TV3.lt had reported that the former president, aged 98, was taken to hospital on 3 January after falling at home and sustaining bruises.

Adamkus was elected president of Lithuania in 1998 and 2004.
