German defence minister questions if brigade should be deployed in Lithuania on permanent basis

German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius during his visit to Lithuania questioned whether a German brigade assigned to Lithuania should be deployed here on a permanent basis.

Minister Pistorius said in a press conference at the Ministry of National Defence that this is not a matter of what Germany is planning but rather what NATO deems necessary. He noted that the German brigade has been assigned and Lithuania has already started preparing the infrastructure for hosting the brigade, around 5,000 soldiers with armoured vehicles.
