Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis addressed the ministers in his welcome speech, urging not to leave Ukraine alone in the fight against Russia. He said that Ukraine now needed assurances such as those given by former US President George W. Bush decades ago in Vilnius Town Hall Square.
Landsbergis pointed out that history had taught everyone a very clear lesson – no one can be left alone in the fight for freedom.
“This freedom flame continues to burn in the heart of every Lithuanian. And when Ukrainians stand up against Russia’s vicious terror, when Belarusians refuse to bow to a petty dictator, when seas of roses and umbrellas cry out for democracy, we hear the rhyme of history and a lesson our past taught us so well: one should never walk alone,” said Landsbergis.
