Latvian official knowingly accepted and used forged documents submitted by Russian citizen

The Internal Security Bureau (IDB) has urged the Prosecutor’s Office to initiate criminal proceedings against an official of the Office for Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP) for forgery, the IDB informed LETA.

The Bureau’s investigation revealed that the official of the PMLP, in the performance of official duties, updated information on marriage abroad in the Register of Physical Persons by knowingly accepting and using forged documents submitted by a Russian citizen.

The PMLP official was given a non-custodial security measure.
