The weapons manufactured by Germany’s Heckler & Koch GmbH were chosen for their tactical and technical characteristics, according to the ministry. They are light in weight, have a high rate of fire and give a high penetrative performance.
The submachine guns are said to be widely used in 24 NATO countries by armies, police and other special services. However, this type of weapons is new to the Lithuanian military.
