"A case of the new coronavirus has been recorded at the McDonald's restaurant in Kareiviu Street in Zirmunai, Vilnius. A worker has fallen ill," Ginreta Megelinskiene of the NPHC's Vilnius Department, told a press conference on Tuesday.
The last time the infected person was in his workplace was on May 9, she said, adding that his family members are also infected, meaning that it might be a family outbreak.
This case might be related to the coronavirus hotspot at Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, according based on the information the NPHC has.
"It might be so, of course, that those new cases are related to the existing hotspots, based on the emerging information," Megelinskiene said.
Also, the NPHC has received information about another coronavirus case at the Rimi store in the same area.
"We have also received information about a third case at the Rimi store in the Zirmunai area," the NPHC representative said, adding that the person had no direct with customers.
Urgent tests of staff at this store had been ordered and they are now ongoing. On Monday, the NPHC reported about two coronavirus infections at the Rimi store.
Rimi Lietuva announced its decision to suspend the operation of its production unit in Zirmunai. The company said the three infected staff members have not worked and had no contact with co-workers since May 8, and people who had close contact with them are already self-isolating.
A total of 126 people work at this Rimi production unit. 27 workers are now in self-isolation.
