The prosecutors say evidence collected during the pre-trial investigation gave them sufficient grounds to suspect that between May 2015 and February 2017, Grazulis "sought and received property benefits" from a privately-owned company while acting in its interest and interfering with public servants' activities in Lithuania and Russia.

He also allegedly offered money to Russian officials, asking them to act illegally in the interests of the company.

THUS, the MP "systematically and for a long time" abused his political status and influence, undermined the prestige of the parliament, violated constitutional principles, and breached his oath, causing "major non-pecuniary damage" to the state, according to the press release.

Law-enforcement officials have said that Grazulis helped Judex, a Kaunas-based frozen food company, to solve its problems after Russian officials found listeria in its products in 2015.

The parliamentarian allegedly repeatedly called Lithuanian and Russian officials to help Judex, asking them to breach the existing procedures.

Prosecutors wanted to question Grazulis as a special witness back in 2016, but he refused to testify, using his immunity as a member of the parliament.

In 2019, the prosecutor general asked the Seimas to strip Grazulis of his immunity from prosecution, but the parliament refused to do so.

However, the new parliament granted the request after it was resubmitted last December.
