President leaves for UN General Assembly to discuss security and climate change

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda is leaving for New York on Sunday to attend the UN General Assembly session expected to focus on security and climate change.

The highlight of Nauseda's visit to the US, which will end on Thursday, will be his address at the General Assembly session, scheduled for Wednesday.

Diplomats say the president will likely speak about the importance of international law, Russia's threat and sustainable development goals.

Nauseda is also scheduled to attend a climate change summit and to meet with potential investors.

The program of the visit also includes a bilateral meeting between Nauseda and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss Brexit, according to diplomatic sources.

The president is accompanied on his US trip by First Lady Diana Nausediene.
