According to the president, night vision scopes in hunting are not necessary to achieve the objectives set out in the explanatory memorandum to the law, which claims that the devices would help fighting against African swine fever or ensure better preparedness to defend the country.

Nausėda also noted major difficulty in overseeing and controlling the use of such devices, making administrative and criminal liability for the unlawful use of night vision scopes in hunting virtually unenforceable.
