Probe launched against MP Žemaitaitis over PM’s slander

A pre-trial investigation was launched against MP Remigijus Žemaitaitis, leader of the Nemunas Dawn, over Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė’s slander.

Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office assessed Šimonytė’s statement and opened an investigation on suspicion that Žemaitaitis published a libel about the prime minister on Facebook.

The investigation will be carried out together with another probe on suspicion that Žemaitaitis spread hate speech on social media on 10 November.
