The Russian Defence Ministry said air and sea exercises started on Monday morning in the Pskov area, which is close to the Latvian and Estonian border.
Russian authorities said that the paratroopers would practice parachute landing, disembarkation from a helicopter, and surprise attacks. Artillery and fire control systems would also be tested.
The Kremlin claims that the army will utilize unmanned aircraft, the latest communication tools and systems for early targeting.
It is reported that the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla will participate in the exercise which will continue until Friday.
