On Tuesday, Lithuanian lawmakers unanimously adopted a resolution by 118 votes in favor, strongly condemning Russia's continued military aggression, the systematic and large-scale use and continued use of sexual violence, and other war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the Ukrainian people.
The resolution expresses full support for the Lithuanian government's actions in initiating and participating in legal proceedings on international crimes committed by the Russian armed forces, including crimes related to sexual violence against Ukrainians, the Lithuanian parliament's press service said.
EU member states and other international partners are urged to join the Baltic initiative to set up a special international criminal tribunal and to engage in other international legal processes to hold Russia's political and military leaders accountable for crimes of aggression in Ukraine.
The adopted document calls on the governments of Lithuania and other countries to initiate all necessary steps to ensure that victims of sexual crimes committed by the Russian armed forces on their territory receive all necessary medical and psychological assistance.
