Kazakevicius proposed for ambassador to Finland

Diplomat Giedrius Kazakevicius is being proposed for the position of Lithuania's ambassador to Finland.

Under a draft government resolution, he would assume the position on October 8.

The Lithuanian Embassy in Finland does not have a permanent head as ex-Ambassador Valdemaras Sarapinas was recalled from the position in May and appointed to work in Ukraine.

Currently, Kazakevicius head the Foreign Ministry's Consular Department.

In Lithuania, ambassadors are appointed and dismissed by the president upon the government's nomination and with approval of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs.
