First Green Bridge statue down

Works to dismantle the Soviet-era statues on the Green Bridge in Vilnius started on Sunday morning and continued through the night.

The first statue that was taken down depicts a pair of Red Army soldiers.

Four sculpture groups adorning the four corners of the Green Bridge have stood here since 1952. They depict the pillars of the Soviet society: workers, peasants, scholars and soldiers.
