Melyantsou on Belarussian plans in Eurasian Union

The Lithuania Tribune spoke to Dzianis Melyantsou, senior analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies at the Riga Conference 20114. Asked about Belarus's plans of joining the Russian-led Eurasian Union, the researcher said that the Belarusian population as a whole was in favour of joining the organization, even though its political elite were not too sure yet. Nevertheless, President Lukashenko is aware of Russia’s wish to have Belarus as its ally and is using that to his advantage.
