Grand Dukes Palace

The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania was on Friday solemnly opened following its 15-year construction.

The construction of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania on the site of the original palace in the capital's lower castle complex has been completed 15 years after it was started.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, who is in Italy on a working visit, has opened an exhibition entitled Historical Ties between Milan and Lithuania: Bona Sforza and the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Milan's Sforza Castle, the presidential press service said.

Segments of a belt, believed to be worn by Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas, go on display at the Grand Dukes Palace in Vilnius.

On 4 February, the exhibition “The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and its Reconstruction” was opened and an international seminar was held for this occasion at the Army Museum in Stockholm.

Thirty-four tapestries of the 1400-1500s, valued at nearly 25 million litas (EUR 7.4m), will be exhibited at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius.

On Tuesday, 15 July, the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania will commemorate the historic victory in the Battle of Grunwald (Žalgirio Mūšis), a decisive 15-century event in the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
