The Lithuanian Union of Journalists, the Lithuanian Society of Journalists and the family of MP Kazys Starkevicius, representing the conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, have established a Hope and Freedom Prize, forth 1,000 euros, for Belarusian journalists.

Editors of Lithuanian media outlets sent on Thursday a message of solidarity to their persecuted colleagues in Belarus, saying they are ready to help the independent media in the neighboring country.

The Chancellery of the Government of Lithuania violated journalists' rights by refusing to provide and subsequently deleting the audio recording of a Cabinet's meeting in October, 2018, the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania has ruled on Thursday.
