"It's probably painful for all of us, and not only because these are some restrictions for businesses but these are restrictions for all of us as citizens. But, obviously, they are necessary and inevitable. As a business community, we only hope that the state will also take care of certain assistance for businesses," Romanovskis told BNS on Sunday night.
"We do believe it will be done. (…) The business sector understands that painful decisions must be made. But, you know, it’s better to have swift and effective decisions, rather than procrastinated and ineffective ones," he added.
The president of the Lithuanian Business Association also noted that the state not only has a duty to adopt rules but also to ensure that everyone stick to them. Romanovskis also paid attention to the fact that the republic's responsibility was also very important.
The majority of shops, with the exception of those selling food, will be closed in Lithuania as of Wednesday as the country is tightening the existing lockdown. In addition to food stores, also pharmacies, veterinary clinics, opticians and stores selling orthopedic equipment will be allowed to continue operating. They will need to ensure a space of at least 10 square meters for one person.
