Although the list of countries to which travel is allowed has been expanding every week, IKEA survey showed that the majority of Lithuanians have already adjusted their summer vacation plans.
24% of respondents say they have refused travel abroad and a tenth say they are going to spend vacation travelling in Lithuania. The same part had to cancel their summer vacation because of the pandemic, the company writes in a press release.
Will repair their country houses
Those who are planning to spend holidays in Lithuania will choose between campsites (21% of respondents plan to rest there), personal country houses (20%) and rented apartments or country houses (11%). However, those Lithuanians, who own country houses, admit that its condition is hardly suitable for holidays.
‘36% respondents say that their country houses are completely not suitable or only partially suitable for holidays. They admit that kitchens, terraces and bedrooms – the most commonly used places at weekend houses, are the most problematic ones. Every second respondent has planned to renovate his/her country house. Even a third of respondents will invest more than 500 EUR’, says Eglė Čyvė, Head interior designer, IKEA Lithuania.
The research shows that the biggest share of this investment is going into landscaping and construction works, outdoor furniture, large cabinets and shelving units for organizing and storing.
‘According to the survey, first of all, respondents want to make the necessary repair works and to organize the environment. When it comes to home furnishing, the majority will start with outdoor furniture (19%), wardrobes and shelving units (18%). One out of ten is going to buy kitchen, living room and bathroom furniture.’ says E. Čyvė.
