The Lithuanian government will decide on Wednesday whether to introduce a nationwide quarantine for at least three weeks starting on Saturday, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said on Tuesday.

Lithuanian Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga on Friday did not rule out introducing a nationwide quarantine amid the worsening coronavirus situation.

Quarantine comes into force on Wednesday in Lithuania's biggest cities of Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda, and also five smaller municipalities of Silale, Sirvintos, Telsiai Trakai and Vilnius District.

Arrivals from coronavirus-affected countries will be advised to self-isolate after Lithuania lifts the nationwide quarantine on Wednesday, Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga said on Monday.

On Wednesday, the Lithuanian government decided to finish a quarantine starting 17th of June.
