The Cabinet might announce a partial easing for the trade and services sector at its upcoming meeting on Wednesday, he said.

The second stage would include outdoor cafes, sporting and health promotion services, and the third one – kindergartens and schools. Further on, the government might also consider easing of restrictions for major events.

All measures would be applied with due regard to the spread of the coronavirus and adjusted if necessary, Skvernelis pointed out in an interview to BNS.

He called on people to avoid contact and comply, to the extent possible, with the existing personal protection requirements.

“We will attempt to establish preliminary dates but these dates will be very much preliminary and will mean that we do have such an objective. However, if the situation changes or does not improve, or if we see that there are risks, these dates will be simply pushed forward. As regards the plan on the return to social life, I believe that we will be able to provide a preliminary outline as early as on Wednesday,” Skvernelis told BNS.

Lithuania imposed a nationwide lockdown on March 16 and extended it until Apr. 27 last Wednesday in a bid to stem the spread of coronavirus.
