Lithuania's Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis says that the return of MEP Viktor Uspaskich to head the Labor Party would not be a promising step.

Živilė Pinskuvienė, the leader of the Labor Party that has no mandates in Lithuania's parliament, announced resignation from the post during a meeting of party's council on Tuesday evening.

After suffering a defeat in the October 2016 general elections and having change of leadership, the Labour Party has lost over 1,000 members over the past six months, which is the biggest loss among all political parties of Lithuania.

Živilė Pinskuvienė, the mayor of the Širvintos district, was elected as the new leader of the Lithuanian Labour Party on Sunday.
