Lithuania aims to generate 100 percent of its electricity domestically in the future, with 80 percent of the total power demand to be met using renewable resources, according to a draft new National Energy Strategy.

The new energy strategy, which should define Lithuania's objectives in the energy sector until 2050, will be presented to the ruling coalition on Wednesday before it is presented to the general public shortly.
Open consultations on the National Energy Strategy have begun with for the first time, the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy is organising consultations with interest groups whose comments will be considered when drafting the final strategy.
