Lithuania's Criminal Police is carrying out a large-scale investigation into the sale of guns from the country's Weaponry Fund on the black market.

As the European Union (EU) decided to step up control of some weapons in the wake of terrorist attacks, Lithuania intends to leave the right for members of the Riflemen's Union and other volunteer troops introduced a year ago to keep their semi-automatic weapons.
The United States Embassy has called for an explanation of how the semi-automatic weapons M14 used by US snipers and donated to Lithuania's Armed Forces ended up in the hands of private individuals, delfi.lt news portal said.
