"It's not working as much as we would like it to but I would also not dare to say it's not working at all. We still have growth (in cases) but it's no longer exponential," the minister told journalists on Wednesday before the Cabinet's sitting.
In his words, it’s important to comply with the existing requirements but "it's obvious that it's not possible to do in every case".
"We will see after this week. If the figures continue to grow, I would definitely not rule out the possibility that the government would make additional decisions. And speaking of a curfew, we need an emergency situation which can be declared by the Seimas," Veryga said.
One of the potential tighter measures would be restrictions on supermarket's working hours, he said.
More than 1,800 new coronavirus cases on average were recorded daily the last week.
Lithuania has registered 2,289 new coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics service, Statistics Lithuania, said on Wednesday.
A total of 51,655 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. The country currently has 38,755 active cases and 12,282 recoveries.
The coronavirus death toll has reached 432, and 186 infected people have died of other causes.
