There are some 2,476 coronavirus-infected medics in Lithuania, representatives of the country's National Public Health Center say.

Lithuania's Economy and Innovation Ministry has announced its decision to give 200 euros to medics fighting the coronavirus to have rest time in the fall, allocating a total of 10 million euros for the purpose.

A high coronavirus morbidity rate among medics in Lithuania is probably linked to insufficient use or inability to properly use personal protection equipment (PPE), Lithuanian Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga says.

Intersurgical, a Lithuanian designer, manufacturer and supplier of a wide range of high quality medical devices for respiratory support, will produce 1 million masks-respirators for medics.

A total of 545 medics are now self-isolating in Lithuania, mainly in Vilnius County, because of contact with a suspected or confirmed coronavirus case, Daiva Razmuviene, an epidemiologist from the National Public Health Center, told BNS.
