A EUR 520.6 million tender to build a new military campus in Klaipėda District is to be launched in May, Verslo žinios reports, citing the deputy minister of defence, Orijana Mašalė.

Minister of National Defence Laurynas Kasčiūnas has unveiled an urban model for the 190-hectare Rūdninkai military campus being built to host the German brigade. The EUR 995-million-worth project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

President Gitanas Nausėda opened a new military campus in Šiauliai on Friday, the presidency said in a statement.

Lithuania has opened the first new military campus since it regained independence over three decades ago. The campus designed for Brigadier General Motiejus Pečiulionis’ Artillery Battalion is located in Pajūris, Šilalė district on Thursday.
